90 in 100 womans in the world have a Trench Coat in the closet , but most of that womans does NOT know , where it comes from , and why it now make part of our daily looks , in cold days.
Who never wake up in a cold day and the first clother you take  in your closet was that trench coat, that was there waiting for winter...
So  here is a bit of History of that marvelous piece that make every look , posh and elegant...

"The trench coat was developed as an alternative to the heavy serge greatcoats worn by British and French soldiers in the First World War. Burberry and Aquascutum claimed the Invation, ."  *

The fact is that Trench coat was created to go to war , and how did it end up in your closet...

"Mr Thomas Burberry, who founded his eponymous company in 1856, invented gabardine, which is a method of weaving fabric (either wool or cotton) that makes it rainproof. In 1911 gabardine proved its worth in the ultimate real-world test, when Norwegian explorer Mr Roald Amundsen used Burberry equipment to conquer the South Pole.
Three years later Sir Ernest Shackleton, the famous Antarctic explorer, wore Burberry gabardine on his polar expedition, and in 1984 a modern-day explorer, Mr Robert Swan, wore Burberry for his In the Footsteps of Scott expedition.
In 1920 the famous Burberry check, registered as a trademark, was first used to line trench coats - the lining of this coat is in cotton."  *

In WWII , the lack of fabrics in Europe , forces women to share the closet with men , and the military looks takes the women appearance , the skirts get short, and the looks more sober... the necessity of fabrics develope women to take whatever they have around to create clothers wearable enough to leave their houses , and it counts the men wardrope, and that's why it gets popular.
and since that time it baceme a key piece for every woman and men in a cold winter.
